Hey everyone, I hope you are all safe and healthy as we all navigate through this crazy time. Whether it’s you going stir crazy, your kids, or both…..I wanted to share some ideas to help keep you sane while cooped up because cabin fever is FOR REAL guys!!!
Ideas For Younger Kids:
- create a treasure hunt or scavenger hunt
- build a fort
- bake something together
- create an indoor hopscotch with painters tape
- listen to an astronaut read a book from space (this is SO COOL!)
- visit a National Park (Yellowstone and more)
- visit a zoo or museum online (30 virtual tours can be found here)
- have an early egg hunt
- have a family or kids talent show
- make puppets from old socks
- have a fashion show
- create a bingo game with chores
- have them teach a pet new tricks or commands
- make and send cards to local nursing homes, fire stations, police departments
- let them pull out old Halloween costumes and dress-up clothes and have a “photoshoot”
- have a tea party or picnic
- create some games with blue tape (see my Pin for ideas)
- have an egg drop challenge
- do a science experiment (see my pins for ideas)
- make macaroni necklaces
- build a birdhouse
- decorate rocks
- have a spa day for dolls (clean them up, do their hair and dress them up)
Ideas For Tweens/Teens:
- learn a new skill or hobby online (hand-lettering, bullet journaling, coding, how to edit videos, etc) There are tons of free videos online
- make friendship bracelets or jewelry
- make a vision board using magazines, photos, etc.
- learn to cook or learn to cook something new
- teach them life skills they will need to know (how to iron, how to do laundry, how to check air in tires, how to fix something around the house, etc)
- watch art lessons online
- learn new ways to braid hair (tons of YouTube tutorials)
- watch makeup and hair tutorials
- create new music playlists
- research colleges
- take an online career quiz
- tie dye something
- organize something (books, closet, drawer, purse, jewelry, makeup, etc)
Ideas For the Family:
- start a garden
- workout together
- play cards, board games or dice games (tenzi is such an easy one for all ages)
- find a show you can all binge together
- give each other mani/pedi’s
- make homemade ice cream
- have a themed dinner night (dress up, play music)
- create an in-home escape the room challenge (ideas here)
- make a scavenger hunt you can play from the car (while driving around the neighborhood)
Ideas For Mom:
- join an online book club or create one
- start learning a new language
- watch cooking tutorials online
- watch beauty tutorials online
- try a new exercise at home
- start new habits (drink more water, make bed every day, move for 30 min a day)
- read a book or listen to an audiobook
- listen to a podcast
- teach your kids something new
- give yourself a pedicure or manicure
- organize something each day (a closet, a drawer, your handbag, etc)
- make a list of all the shows you want to binge or books you want to read and get to work on checking them off. (You can even add them to your Netflix queue so you won’t forget them.)
- organize your recipes
- delete pictures off your phone and order photo prints or books for the keepers
- create some new music playlists (workout, road trip, boat, etc)
- update your holiday card mailing list or make labels now to use for next year
- delete unused apps on your phone
- take this time to sort and purge email inboxes (unsubscribe from junk mail)
- subscribe to your state’s “Do Not Call List” if you have not already.
- tackle all the to do’s around the house that you have been putting off
- make a running list of all the appointments you have had to cancel/reschedule so you can refer to it later for planning
- organize photo albums on computer and backup
- organize and update your Pinterest boards
- go through your makeup and toss expired products
- make sure your medicine cabinet is organized and up to date
- re-arrange your furniture
- watch a TED talk
- call someone you haven’t talked to in awhile
- make a bucket list
- give yourself some “spa time” (now’s the time to do those face masks and multi-step routines you never have time for)
- clean your makeup brushes
- meal plan for now and later
- make a list of goals
- make a gratitude list
- do an online bible study
- leave reviews for services or purchases made
- take an online class (there are a lot available for free)
- watch a documentary
- gather items that need to be donated
- organize your laptop
