Hey friends! We have been busy trying to get settled back in but with summer starting, travel plans and my hubby having unexpected arm surgery, things have been moving a bit slower than I wish. But, I can finally get in my office, so that’s a HUGE plus!
You can see above, the original design board for this space. I find it helpful to create a board before any project and I enjoy seeing what selections we kept and how we ended up deviating from the original plans.
If you remember the space before, it had dark cabinetry, doors, and trim. I also had weird corner desks on each side of the room and weird upper corner cabinets. The desks were definitely a design flaw because you had to slide your chair out in order to open the cabinets or drawers next to you. It drove me bonkers. After trying to rework the area several ways, our carpenter advised us to rip it all out and start new. I am so glad we did this! It made such a big difference in my opinion.
I also knew I wanted to add the cross pattern to my cabinet doors, so I drew up an example for our carpenter and he made it happen. For my desk, I decided I did not want a knee space in the new cabinetry and went with a freestanding desk this time.
I kept my existing light fixture and added two brass library lights over each bookshelf. Something else I am so happy we did was incorporate a cabinet large enough to conceal my printer. It is so nice not having it take up valuable countertop space.
I used a color called Boothbay Gray by Benjamin Moore on the builtins and really love it. It does look a bit different depending on the time of day, but it does not bother me at all. It’s just cheery enough without being too bright. All the walls and trim were painted Benjamin Moore Decorator’s White and doors in Iron Ore by Sherwin Williams.
Roman Shades have been ordered and I cannot wait to see how they look once they arrive. Thanks for stopping by!
