It’s been ages since I have had a home update to share and that’s because our project ran WAY behind schedule. I know most remodels do, but to put it into perspective, it took 6 months and our master bedroom and bathroom are still not done.
I don’t even know where to begin, but the short version is we had a major issue with our painters. They spent much of the time not working and did not prep our knotty alder wood correctly so the cabinets and doors (every single interior door on the first floor) had to be redone MORE THAN ONCE. There were a ton of other “setbacks” but right now I am honestly so over it, I don’t even know what to say. If you figure in the time it took repainting multiple times and the delay it caused for other stuff, just like that, six months had gone by. It was not a smooth journey to say the least. But enough about that and on to the fun stuff.
If you remember, we replaced all of our downstairs flooring with a new wood flooring from Castle Combe. I am still in love with our wood floors btw. Honestly, they made such a huge difference. In our kitchen, we had already replaced our granite with marble countertops, so the space just got a mini lift by refacing the cabinets and painting. Our cabinets before were more traditional, and this time we went with a shaker front. Refacing the cabinets was much more affordable than getting new ones because we have a lot of cabinetry in our kitchen (49 doors and 23 drawers to be exact) and I did not find a money tree during that six-month painting fiasco! We also decided to paint the gray cabinets white and changed up our island color.
I was a bit unsure about the island color, but I have to say, we love it. The color changes a bit depending on the lighting and can look different throughout the day. We used Sherwin Williams Night Owl (SW 7061) on both islands and our pantry built-ins. For cabinets, walls, ceiling and all trim, we used Benjamin Moore Decorator’s White (OC-149).
Thanks for stopping by. Off to finish unpacking and then I will be sharing more rooms!
