Every year about this time I start to panic because I need end of the year teacher gifts. I always need a ton and I never know what to get. Between both of my kids, they have over 10 teachers, so cost also has to be factored in. Let’s face it, I’m sure teachers get lots of junk throughout the year. I definitely don’t want to be one of those moms who gives them something they won’t use. My general rule of thumb is that if I wouldn’t use it, they probably won’t either. And I refuse to buy anything teacher-ish. You know the apple coffee mugs, the My Favorite Teacher frame, and so on. Instead, try one of the following ideas.
Gift cards- Think of places they would actually enjoy. Starbucks is easy but may not be the most original. Instead, consider a gift card to the local movie theatre, a meal delivery service, a manicure or pedicure, a bookstore, an amazon or itunes card, a new restaurant or one for their favorite place to eat. You can also give them a gift card to a grocery store or a local school supply store to help them replenish supplies. Target is also always a hit because who doesn’t love Target. Or what about a gift card to a car wash?
Consider giving them something that will come in handy over summer. Maybe a new insulated tumbler, a cooler, a tote bag for the pool or beach, or a cute new beach towel.
Wine- If you know he/she drinks wine, why not give them a bottle of wine to celebrate surviving the school year.
Money- ok so maybe money might be a tad awkward but you could totally give them a Visa gift card and then they could use it for anything they want!
Something they’ll remember– One thing I know I would cherish as a teacher would be notes from my students. I think a letter from you or your child sharing what they enjoyed that year, what they love about that teacher or what they learned from the class would be such a thoughtful gift.
